How to make high-quality biomass pellets?

Biomass pellets are an environmentally friendly and efficient form of energy, widely used in home heating, industrial production and other fields. It is a solid fuel compressed from various organic materials (such as wood residues, crop waste, etc.) after processing. The key to making high-quality biomass pellets lies in raw material selection, process control and quality inspection of the final product. Here are some basic steps and key points:

1. Raw material selection

Type: Dry and pollution-free raw materials should be selected, such as wood chips, crop straw, fruit shells, etc.

Humidity: The moisture content of the raw materials should be controlled between 10%-15%. Too high or too low will affect the quality of the pellets.

2. Processing process

Crushing: Crush the raw materials to a suitable particle size for subsequent compression.

Drying: If the raw material has a high moisture content, it needs to be dried first to achieve the ideal humidity.

Compression molding: Use a special biomass pellet machine to compress the raw materials into shape. Temperature and pressure are key factors in this process. Usually the temperature is between 150℃-300℃, and the pressure depends on the equipment, but sufficient pressure must be ensured to form compact particles.

Cooling and packaging: The formed particles need to be cooled to room temperature and then packaged to avoid moisture absorption and contamination.

3. Quality inspection

Density: The density of high-quality biomass pellets should be between 1.1-1.4g/cm³.

Combustion performance: The combustion efficiency is evaluated by testing indicators such as combustion time and calorific value.

Mechanical strength: The pellets should not be easily broken to ensure integrity during transportation and storage.

Ash content: Biomass pellets with low ash content are more environmentally friendly, and the ash content is usually required to be less than 2%.

The preparation of high-quality biomass pellets requires not only careful selection of raw materials, but also precise control of various parameters during the processing process. Following the above guidelines can greatly improve the quality of biomass pellets, thereby enhancing their application effect and environmental value.
